As anyone knows about Chisinau Circus and its history, we found out that there is a circus group who activates in Taul Village, Donduseni, and in fact they directly compete with circus people from Chisinau Circus

Circus is like a story. Inspiring acrobatics, trained animals, magicians who amaze with their tricks, fantastic leaps and sinuous movements, performed by equilibrists or gymnasts, always excited us during in childhood during circus shows. As anyone knows about Chisinau Circus and its history, to our great surprise, we found out that there is a circus group who activates in Taul Village, Donduseni, and in fact they directly compete with circus people from Chisinau Circus. Ana Melnic is the one who keeps alive the circus spirit in the arena of Donduseni Circus. The effort she makes and the circus people to perform there are worthy of genuine respect. And actually when you get to realize the prizes they won at international competitions, there is a degree of admiration for this team that keeps growing.

  • It was the summer of 1994. I wanted to submit the necessary documents in order to be enrolled in college

At that time, one of my friends told me that in our village - Taul, a circus opened. Out of curiosity, I went there to find out more about that. I was impressed by what I saw there and I tried my luck, thinking I could be accepted in the group. Initially, I passed some exams, including the acting test which I passed pretty easily. George Cucos, the circus director, invited me to be part of the group. At that time I was 16. Unfortunately, in 1995 Mr. George Cucos left the circus, and I, at age of 17 took over its management.

  • Our Circus’ name is "Snowdrop" and in December 1994, it received the circus for children certification

At that time there were 42 artists, including: air acrobats, chain acrobats, net and circle equilibrists, tightrope walking, jugglers, clowns, etc. Our shows lasted 2-3 hours. Currently, our circus group is made up of 38 children. Training takes place in the gymnasium of the Taul House of Culture. We have a vast repertoire, but unfortunately, there are too few children to join the band. Many of them choose to spend their time at the computer.

  • We also had circus performances abroad

We returned from competitions in Bulgaria and Hungary. I came back home having won the first place prize. Unfortunately, we have no money for costumes, sports equipment, and transportation to different international events. Recently, the circus status was changed into a studio. We dream a lot to be heard and get support.

  • Every child who is in love with the circus world is welcome in our circus group

Trainings are free, everything is based on pure enthusiasm. More than two decades we have been working to keep alive the flame of this magical world called circus. Often second hand clothes we purchase substitute a circus costume. Despite obstacles, we are enthusiastic and go forward. Optimism keeps this wonderful project alive.
